The Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur comes as a surprise to many westerners. We are so used to see pictures of sprawling, polluted third world cities that this sleek, modern metropolis doesn’t fit the stereotype.

One of the biggest tourist attractions of the city is no doubt the massive steel and chrome structure of the Petronas towers. This was the tallest building in the world until 2004 – when Taipei 1 was erected. The towers are however still the tallest twin buildings anywhere in the world.
